The FBI and Southern Poverty Law Center knew in advance about the Oklahoma City bombing

In a January 5th 1996 teletype to select FBI field offices, FBI Director Louis Freeh revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the far-left group founded by civil rights lawyer Morris Dees, had an informant living in Elohim City, a white supremacist compound whose inhabitants have been closely linked to the Oklahoma City bombing.

The Freeh teletype also revealed that Tim McVeigh, executed in 2001 for the murder of 168 people in Oklahoma City, had telephoned Elohim City asking that German national Andreas Strassmeir provide more assistance in completing the bomb which devastated the Alfred P. Murrah building. The call took place on April 17 of 1995, 2 days before the bombing.

The teletype makes it clear that the FBI had prior knowledge of the bombing plot and the SPLC had at least one informant on the inside. This individual has never been publicly identified. Neither is it known whether he reported to the FBI, to SPLC founder Morris Dees or to both.

In a 2010 interview, Jesse Trentadue-the Salt Lake City attorney responsible for revealing much of what we know today of the Oklahoma City bombing-spoke to a radio audience about the FBI, the SPLC and their advance knowledge of the event. Said Trentadue, “I mean, they clearly knew, clearly knew in advance it was going to happen. Now this is something you struggle with and I struggle with, did it go south on them, was the plan to catch the people in the act, or did they really want it to happen.”

These represent the most important questions surrounding the Oklahoma City bombing: Did the Clinton Administration FBI make...

ATF and FBI were down the blcok from the building conducting a drill ... coincidence...???
video tapes at the scene were seized by the FBI and disappeared
eye witnesses who saw the iraqi revolutionary guard with mc veigh were ignored
the same guy shows up working as a security guard at logan on 9/11... coincidence.. ??? what are the odds
mc veigh learned to make the bomb(s) from ramsay yourself (wtc’93)
the FBI had a paid informant tell them prior to 9/11 of the pending attack...

If you have a tag, your chances of getting away with not having a plate or current registration increase.

You almost have to be pulled over for something else for the ruse to be discovered.

No plates here, and you should have a sticker in the window indicating you have paid the registration and are waiting on plates, but that varies from state to state.

IIRC, Mc Veigh didn't have plates on the vehicle.

Ya, that’s what I remember. No plates.

Still, had a cousin who drove a beater car with no plates for years. Amazingly mcveigh got pulled over within hours of taking the plates off his car. I drive on rural roads for weeks w/o running across a cop that might notice I have no plates. He must have been the unluckiest co-conspirator in history.

Certainly not pulled over within hours of taking off the tag.

Just after an event like that bombing, I am sure police were looking harder for any inconsistency.

Of course, it could have been a setup, too, but everyone was on alert.

Debt of Honor by Tom Clancy. I think there may have been elements of Red Storm Rising in it as well, just not the Russians to seize oilfields, but others to seize/keep power.

Possibly.

But he was pulled over in a rural area IIRC. LEOs are stretched thin out there.

I still remember condoleeza rice testifying after 9/11 that there was no way they could have anticipated terrorists flying planes full of people into buildings.

Right.

Nobody.

Except anybody who had read clancey. Or simply passed a bookstore that had the book in the window. My copy had a drawing of a destroyed us capital with a giant plane tail sticking out sticking out of the rubble.

What are we paying all of them for again?

But so is traffic. If they work an area often, they might notice a 'new' car or one that they just haven't seen before.

Besides, at least in these parts, it isn't uncommon for drivers to wave at each other in passing, even deputies and state patrol. Not doing so might just add to the flag. With everyone on alert after the bombing, someone they don't recognize in a 'strange' vehicle with no plates just might be an easy (albeit lucky) spot.

It takes leos over an hour to get to a call in my grandparents rural country. I see your point but I’m not buying all of it.

To run around and go to meetings, I guess.

(I just found out it cost (so far) over $276K for the University of North Dakota to settle on a new name for their athletic teams...and they haven't done the logo yet, but that part will involve two committees of yet unknown size...etc.)

“I don’t know if that’s true but the fact is that while the ATF had an office in the building there were no ATF agents among the victims. “

Supposedly they were at a morale-building event, a golf tournament or something.

It would be easy to postulate that someone set the McVeigh bust up. Very easy, considering that McVeigh didn't just kill the police officer and drive off, ditch the car and get another means of getting around. For a guy who had helped kill 168 people in one fell swoop, if he wanted to get away, what's one more?

That never made sense to me provided he was guilty, unless he thought someone had his back.

Here, it can be a long wait, too, but IIRC the officer stumbled across McVeigh while on the highway, either on patrol or in transit. Allegedly, it started as a routine traffic stop.

(and if you really want to get away, what's a couple of minutes to 'acquire' a set of license plates beforehand and not get stopped?)

There's that. It would have only taken a few seconds to unscrew the plates off some parked car, put them on, and scoot. Toss the hot plates in some trash can a mile down the road. Repeat the plate swap an hour later, in case the first stolen set get reported.

Better yet, ditch the car and get on a Greyhound bus to anywhere.

You would think that people who were able to plan the bombing would have had a plan to get away, like having a car unconnected to them sitting near by, along with a way to change clothing and appearance.

I remember the BOLO for a brown pickup truck w/ middle eastern guys in it.

And reports of the seismometer registering two events in close timing to one another that morning.

The last new Teletype model was introduced in 1979. It would be just like the government to have had it installed and in use in 1997.
