Freeway jihad-terror plot raises new worries in Southern California

Though some in law enforcement are concerned about the potential for an attack, other terror experts downplayed the risk.

“It has not been in the jihadists’ playbook,” said Brian Jenkins, a senior adviser at Rand Corp. and a top official with Mineta Transportation Institute.

Therein lies the problem. Jihadists are not going to repeat the same attacks in the same way. There strategy is not to do that. The idea that this is not a threat because they haven’t done it before is beyond stupid. And if this is the thinking we can expect from intel agencies, we are doomed.

“Alleged freeway terror plot raises new worries in Southern California,” FoxNews.com, December 22, 2015

The alleged terror plot that called for an all-out assault on a southern California freeway by using pipe bombs to seal off bumper-to-bumper traffic has authorities in the state considering the viability of such an attack.

The alleged plot was revealed last week when the FBI unsealed an affidavit that included a close-up look on the plans that allegedly involved the San Bernardino terrorist and his friend.

The Los Angeles Times reported that court records said Syed Rizwan Farook and his friend Enrique Marquez Jr. laid out detailed plans of how to attack the freeway by using explosives and weapons back in 2011 and 2012. The alleged plot — that would take place during the afternoon rush hour — was aborted at some point, the paper said.

There was a low level “BLM” terror attack on the 405 freeway just yesterday. Fortunately nobody was hurt.

Lots of potential there but it will take hell of a lot more than a few pipe bombs

To seal off a major city from the outside world is not difficult, especially for a jihad group with sufficient funding and a squad of “purified martyrs”.

“Fortunately nobody was hurt.”

I would not mind seeing some BLM thugs wind up in the hospital from that stunt.

It only takes 10 “protestors” to shut down an entire freeway these days. In a just world, the bastards should have been turned into roadkill where they stood. I suppose if they got hundreds of jihadis to block freeway exits over a couple mile stretch, people would finally flatten them.

More likely, the jihadis would commandeer multiple gasoline tanker trucks and ignite them on multiple exits and on the main freeway.

There are several ways to end all of this, it simply requires political will.

Go to Home Depot and buy cases of Nails.

Drop them out the window while driving down the Freeway.

The Chaos and Deaths caused will be epic.

People in S. CA can’t even drive in the Rain.

It is Photoshopped but it doesn't look much different than the real freeways in Los Angeles. Basically, it's a bumper-to-bumper parking lot.

Correct...some of the vehicle patterns repeat. Not classy of her - there’s plenty of REAL PICTURES available.

I think the picture is just posted to give most Americans an idea of how jammed pack the traffic is in big cities. There are always lots of pictures available but cost to use them add up quickly for a page like hers .
