Donald Trump goes OFF THE RAILS: Ted Cruz is worse than Hillary when you think about it
The Right Scoop ^ | The Right Scoop

Posted on 01/20/2016 8:28:12 AM PST by Isara

Once again the very desperate Donald Trump is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, now suggesting that Ted Cruz is worse than Hillary “when you think about it” because of his filing mistake with respect to the loan he took out to fund his Senate campaign in Texas:

Donald Trump: Ted Cruz Is "Worse than Hillary, When You Think about It" (Video)

You know who else thinks Cruz is worse than Hillary? The Republican establishment.

I’ve said this before, that Trump fights exactly like the Republican Establishment fights when they have a conservative challenging a Republican incumbent. They will say anything to beat that conservative into the mud and defeat them.

And that’s exactly what Donald Trump is doing now.

He’s jumping the shark almost daily now and it’s pathetic.

By the way…

I see what you mean about that but I think things are beginning to change.

Grandfather??.. wow, that is a pretty close relationship.

Do you remember him? Did you ever get any stories? All my 7 ancestors who fought were great great or great great great grandfathers, and all died by 1920.

I did not tell anyone not to go on any thread.

If a moderator tells me to avoid particular threads, I will.

Yes. Probably very few people have a grandfather who fought in the Civil War. It’s because everyone in my family does things late. My mother was born relatively late in his life. I was born late in my mother’s life.

Mother wrote down a few stories. Here’s an interesting one.

My grandfather was riding with some of the Confederate soldiers who were escorting Jefferson Davis to Mexico. Davis was carrying gold. The soldiers had not been told the war was over (No twitter).

Word got to the soldiers that the war was over and they left for home and split up the gold. Can’t remember how much Tandy Walker got but it’s gone now.

I’m not talking about you. But a group of Trump supporters didn’t like non-supporters coming on the live Trump threads and disturbing the worship service.

They organized and were successful in having non-supporters banned. Not exactly banned but if they said to much, they got a warning.

Great story. Almost like a 150 year old lotto winner. :)

The only one I think I can remember didn't involve the soldier., but his wife.

My great great grandmother was holding down the small plantation, while my gg grandfather was in the war.

This was during the time of Sherman's march, though their homestead was not in Sherman's direct path.

Apparently some an errant Union Soldier tried to sneak in, but left three finger tips on the pane trying to climb in the window. Apparently my gg grandmother was not afraid of using a butcher knife.

Yep, after 15 years here, I got my first 48 hour trip to Freeper Time out. (earlier this week)

Defending the most conservative POTUS candidates here can get pretty dangerous. :)

According to a breadth of polls, Cruz is more electable than Trump. Trump's unfavorability is very high, much higher than Cruz's.

That's true to some degree right here on FR, over the past month or two of perusing threads I've tallied almost 1,000 FReepers (thus far). A little under 54% have Trump as their 2nd choice (most have Cruz as first), with a good sprinkling of those who say they'll not vote for Trump in the general, and a handful who don't want Trump or Cruz. The minority, 46%, want Trump.

Just FYI.

Let's coalesce when it's apparent Cruz is done, around a winner shall we?

In order to win what? More and bigger government garbage. I only want to win conservatism. You can vote for winning garbage if you want. I will vote for what I want to win.

What has he borne false witness about Ted?

Here is ONE example, rip: Fast forward to 5:52 minutes into the linked video.

Donald Trump blatantly lied and bore false witness with these words: "Now Ted just switched his views on ethanol. He was totally against ethanol, now all the sudden he's for it, you know, it's Iowa and he's for it."

So I looked up Ted's record and spent some time doing due diligence, and discovered that he has had the same position on ethanol -- against government subsidies for it, phase them out asap -- all along, for years.

I expect jeffersondem has a few other examples as well. Donald Trump LIES. It's probably why you, ripnbang, are the MINORITY here on Free Republic, even though your side squawks louder, more angrily, and more often. Most people want somebody other than Trump -- and most of those "most" want Cruz. At least, judging by about 1,000 individual voices here on FR.

It's only a vocal and insistent minority, of which you are part, that supports the loser who has to lie to "win" people to his side.

May be a minority on FR, but apparently not so nationally...

That is also because they do not know Cruz as well as trump. I really do not think Cruz will play well as people get to know him. I hate to say this because I would definitely support Cruz if I thought otherwise.

Oh, really? In 2012, in August (I took a hiatus from FR then and didn't come back until after the election), I had been doing a long, similar count and found that a majority of FReepers resented Romney so much that they were inclined to refuse to vote for him. I not only thought they were a minority on FR (until I did the count), even after I did the count, I assumed they were a minority among American conservatives in general, and that Romney would win.

But in fact, FR's majority apparently represented the national majority. Romney LOST because apparently, the balance of conservatives refused to vote against their own interests.

What I'm telling you and FReeper Trump-firsters is that if Trump gets the nom, you had better be prepared for Romney ReDux.

Most people will support and vote for the person who offers what they want to win.

Fewer and fewer people will vote for what they want to lose in order to vote "against" (see my tagline) the Democrat offering the same thing.

You can support and vote for Trump because you're convinced he "can win." But even if he wins conservatives lose because they'll only have won a lot of leftism. Winning ONLY matters if you win something worthwhile. LOSING is "winning" by electing a functional Democrat to a Republican office.

I also notice that you have absolutely ZIP XERO NADA defense of Trump for his blatant lie, which was in fact the subject of the post you replied to and which only in passing referred to the fact that no wonder Trump is only preferred by a minority of FReepers -- Trump LIES. Bigger than Hillary's butt in a lime-green pantsuit, he lies to people in order to "win" them to his side. You can vote for that kind of "winner" if you want, but I will vote for something better.

:^)

Admittedly, not a single vote has been cast yet, so this may all be moot...however, looking at polls/trends, commentary and extreme vitriol in the media, etc., Romney never had this kind of support in the general, let alone, the primaries. In fact, he struggled to get a majority of delegates right up to the convention. Remember the complaints of how Romney was “dying a death of a thousand cuts” and how the establishment said we needed to rally to support Romney in the primary so he wouldn’t be too bloodied before the general election?

This is entirely a different scenario. Trump, outside of Iowa, though latest polls show he may be leading there, too, is leading by more than 20 points in almost every state, and it is likely the real support is even higher. It is entirely possible, notwithstanding my initial sentence, that the primary race will be over in mid-March. It’s not just conservatives...Trump is showing way more crossover support from Dems, Indies and “moderate” R’s. He’s leading with Hispanics, he’s leading with evangelicals, he’s leading with blue collar voters...his favorability has improved greatly and now is seen as being able to beat Hillary or Bernie.

I believe one of the problems this cycle is not only the establishment and pundits, but conservatives as well, are looking at this election as any of the past elections. Same playbook...same tactics...same ol’, same ol’, which explains why they are incredulous with what is going on in this cycle.

The world and the country has changed dramatically over the past 8 years, and even the past four years. It’s a whole new paradigm as we’re seeing played out right now.

So Cruz bears no responsibility for this “rift”? I say that with quotes, because they are both running for President. Are they not to attack each other as the front runners? That is what politics is, whether we like it or not. Sure, we’d like fantasyland where they hold hands and thrash the competition, but there’s only one President, and they both want it.

All of that is wholly beside the point for those who seek to advance and protect American liberty and conservatism.

You can either support a guy who would almost assuredly use his position to STIFLE liberty and conservatism (that would be Trump), or you can support someone who would assuredly use his position to ADVANCE limited government Constitutional conservatism (that would be Cruz).

Polls and paradigms are about as relevant to that stark reality as the man in the moon.
