American True Grit – How We Lost It, How We Can Get It Back

“They tell me you’re a man with True Grit.”

Kim Darby to John Wayne in the original True Grit (1969)

The character Rooster Cogburn certainly had True Grit, but so did the majority of Americans in our history.

Unfortunately, the well-known American True Grit; our courage, honesty, common sense and heartiness have virtually disappeared from most Americans in the 21st Century.

We are no longer the United States of the Minutemen, the Cowboy, The Boys of Pointe Du Hoc, the Mountain Men and Merrill’s Marauders.

Where is the America of Jim Bowie, Jedediah Smith, Wyatt Earp, George Patton, Chesty Puller, Teddy Roosevelt, Molly Pitcher, Rosie the Riveter and millions of anonymous, tough, brave, resourceful heroes who built this great country?

America of 2016 is the nation of overweight kids, soccer moms, socialist public school administrators who ban dodge ball, metrosexual men; transgender TV stars, helicopter parents and college kids who need safe spaces with Play Doh.

Our military is being led by feather merchants and perfumed princes who care more about following White House social engineering mandates than about doing what is right for the national defense. Subsequently, we are being pushed around the world by the Iranians, ISIS, the Russians and the Chinese. We are a nation led by left-wing cowards who don’t have the intestinal fortitude to do battle with evil.

In 2016 America, we are nation of quirky, politically correct wimps who place more value on our social media status than the ideas that made this country the greatest nation on the earth.

Truth, honor, bravery are all archaic and fleeting values in American society.

Our heroes today seem to be fly-by-night social media stars, who disappear as quickly as they appeared on your phone app.

We’ve adopted a follow the herd mentality in a nation formally filled with the world’s toughest and most innovative individualists.

We are afraid to take tough positions for fear of speaking the truth, as if the truth can physically harm us.

The wisdom of The Duke seems as archaic in 2016 America as a typewriter or a musket.

“There’s right and there’s wrong and you gotta do one or the other. You do the one and you’re living. You do the other and you maybe walkin’ around, but you’re as dead as a beaver hat.”

Americans have become afraid of everything since 9-11. We’re now a nation that wants the government to make us safe. We need to make ourselves safe, not depend on any government to do anything for us.

What did any government ever do for mankind, except try to enslave it?

We have developed a go along, get along attitude which gets us nowhere. Not speaking the truth, not doing what you know is right; in order to placate someone or something is paralyzing and morally deceitful.

We’re a nation more interested in our number of Facebook likes and the latest TMZ episode than about reality. Americans don’t live in reality anymore. We live outside of it, inside bubbles of social media fantasy lands where we can hide behind avatars and fake names.

Our TV shows portray American men as feckless, incompetent idiots who bow in submission to everyone around them.

Our TV shows and movies rarely ever portray heroes. There are no Marshal Matt Dillon’s and Sergeant Saunders’ and Thomas Magnum’s on TV anymore.

If the Americans of yesteryear were like the American people in 2016, we would have been conquered and vanquished a long time ago.

How did we lose our True Grit? How did all this happen?

The social revolution of the 1960’s set the precedent for the complete unraveling of everything decent in American society. Our school, churches, entertainment, fine arts and now the military have gradually been eaten alive by Cultural Marxism, political correctness and feminist insanity.

Policies set forth by dumpy socialist women in Birkenstocks and liberal elected officials have gradually become the values of America.

The 1960s’ social revolution did more to destroy this nation than anything the Soviet Union could have ever accomplished.

How can we get our American True Grit back? Can we?

A good start would be the election of a Republican President, who believes, like most conservatives do, in the age old values of America, aka, American True Grit.

Real American History, not the politically correct, multi-cultural garbage taught in our public schools must be taught to young Americans. Our heroes and our traditional values must be ingrained into the new generation.

Americans must once again look at George Washington as a hero, not a cross dressing, former Olympic track star.

We should read more or find other hobbies, instead of wasting away on social media. We must never, as George Patton said, take counsel of our fears. Do what is right. Fear nothing. Have common sense. Use your gut feelings.

In the final analysis, we must adhere to the words of the late Major Dick Winters of Band of Brothers fame and “Hang Tough.”

Only then will Americans begin to break the shackles of fear and political correctness and cultural Marxism and regain our American True Grit.

The Shining City on the Hill must once again be the haven for the tough and resourceful and courageous.

Oh, I am certain that the women entering the combat field will show us all how it is done and what is true grit.

You all are overlooking our rank and file military who have retained the American spirit thru some 14 years of this long war and our soldiering on.
As one of these 14 year vets told me-—we know who they are, we know where they are and they won’t let us go and kill them.

Exactly right. I know, I used to work in the coal mines, family owned, started when my grandfather took me when I was 6 years old. He had 54 grandchildren I was the second oldest and closest to his heart. I learned a lot from him and my father and one thing was how to be a man. Fu#k these pussies.
