There are still some stores with high prices that will make it. I have friends who shop frequently at Cabela’s and they all have the Cabela’s credit card that they use for everything. I would guess Cabela’s makes as much on their credit card as they do at the stores so that has to help their bottom line.
Cabella (actually Worlds Foremost Bank) does have some overhead with their Visa cards. They had to pay over $10 million in fines and restitution in 2011, and they got hit with another million in fines and refunds in 2014.
