All interesting stuff. I’m a Cruz supporter, but this is very interesting.
On the good side, this shows that she is presumably very knowledgeable on international trade and finance, and energy, and both national and international politics. Maybe she should be running for president.
It is a reminder that while Cruz is known for his work before the Supreme Court, that he and she are more seasoned and more broadly knowledgeable than people might think.
I’m not paranoid about these connections, but it is good to have this out in the open. And Cruz’s faux pas with TPA was wrong, and while I enjoyed his recovery at McConnell’s expense, the fact remains that he had to have known what he was doing and what it meant. He himself explained the whole “show vote” concept very clearly.
Cruz has been a constitutionalist his entire life, and while he and she were involved in Bush’s White House, he eventually made an enemy by getting in GW’s way when he sought to defer to the UN, for example, over Texas law.
So while I think Cruz is head and shoulders above any other candidate I’ve seen in decades, he is not perfect (TPA and H1b for example) and will have to be held to account just like anyone.
What ought to bother everyone a lot is that this is just more of the circus of know - nothings that have made a mess of the world. What could she possibly know about energy. She is not trained as an engineer, she has never operated or designed any kind of power plant, she has not drilled for oil or developed hydrofracking or anything like that. She is a banker with degrees in business and economics.
It's just more of the same inside the Beltway circus of connected insiders taking for themselves and doing nothing to make America a great country.
