Bill Maher said after watching the recent Democratic primary debate co-hosted by Univision he realize there was a "real change" in the Democratic party's position on illegal immigration. It used to be comprehensive immigration reform, Maher said, now it's "you get across that river, you're here to stay."
"Did you see the Democratic debate on Univision about a week ago?" Maher asked on Friday's edition of his HBO show Real Time. "Because there has been a real change with the Democrats, too. Mission Creep, I would call it. I understand their position was comprehensive immigration reform. Now, in front of Univision, it seems to have morphed into, 'you get across that river, you're here to stay.'"
"I don't think that's really what was said," guest panelist Sister Simone Campbell, a liberal activist, said....

He nailed it this time.
Completely.
I could get down with that. Of course it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Ultimately, their position is that America pays out benefits to the entire world because we have been so racist and oppressive. That and everyone gets to vote in our elections because otherwise we’ll do racist stuff.
“You’re here to stay, and you get Medicare, Social Security, and Obamacare”....Trump could destroy Hillary in a debate with this.
He’s right on this, and on Muslims.
Maher said, now it’s “you get across that river, you’re here to stay.”

Trump says, don’t waste your time crossing that river, because you are going back faster than you can say, oh noes!
I was at Costco in Charlotte today and about 25% of the store patrons were mexican, and speaking spanish to each other. I just thought it was odd that there were so many and they could afford to shop there because its not a cheap place to shop.
Exactly. It’s like those guys who have stolen cars or driving drunk on the Cops TV show: after evading the police at 90 mph,
“If I can just (hic) make it to my driveway,I’m home free!”
Uh, no.
“I was at Costco in Charlotte today and about 25% of the store patrons were mexican, and speaking spanish to each other. I just thought it was odd that there were so many and they could afford to shop there because its not a cheap place to shop.”
Unless you’re totally blind, or completely brainwashed by the propaganda on our side, you know damn well that millions of mexicans work their butts off in all sort of jobs from gardening to construction, to restaurants, to hotels, farms, etc. etc. So there are plenty that can afford to shop at Costco.
People that believe that ALL (or even most) mexicans are on the dole are simply blind idiots. Making arguments on that basis, will lose you the argument because it is not based on facts.
The argument against illegal immigration should be made strictly on the basis that regardless of the quality of the people, it is WE who decide who gets to come in. We don’t want an open border, because we want to control how many come in and we want to approve of who comes in.
Otherwise, as Trump says, you don’t have a country.
“He nailed it this time.”
Oh, please! That was a 10 second blurb following several minutes of ridicules of, and yukking it up at, the republicans.
And his little observation was quickly drowned out by the rest of the libtards on the “panel”.
It had absolutely zero impact on the audience, but it sure seems to have gotten lots of freepers all aflutter.
I’ll take your blanket assumption that most Mexicans work in gardening, construction, farms and restaurants. I make much more than many of these types of salaries and find it harder to afford shopping at Costco.
My point was that the number of people around me speaking spanish and other languages was quite unusual in my city. My wife noticed the same thing. In this area I think the numbers have increased dramatically and I can only assume they are coming here illegally. I assume this because our true ‘legal’ immigration system has not changed to allow a mass influx of non english speaking people to flood into my state.
Uh, no. The argument should be made on the basis of what is best for the long term health and welfare of this great nation. We are the only first world nation that allows importation of labor during downturns in employment.
Allowing even quality labor into the country during a steep downturn in the labor market ( as we are currently experiencing ) is extremely bad for the national health. It balloons debt and suppresses wages further exasperating fiscal conditions by reducing revenue.
I am sad to report the percent of illegals here is probably worse than the 25% you mentioned. I rarely see just one Mexican.... they are almost always in groups, and yes, most do not speak any English. But hey, maybe they are like the Bush Clan and they “prefer” to speak spanish instead of English!
Maher is flirting with sensible conclusions.
I hope it’s infectious amongst the glitterati.
I think we’re in agreement. WE should decide who gets to come in and when.
Unfortunately WE the people are not listened to by the politicians and bureaucrats. And they will continue not listening to us until something like this is implemented.

Costco has actually great prices if you need quantity. Most Mexicans have large families so it makes sense financially for them to shop there.
He’s always been a late bloomer.
