1. 72, 6’1”, 185. Rec basketball 3-4 times a week; those 40-50 year old kids are killin’ me! Should run more but arthritic knees that don’t bother me much on the court get sore after a couple of miles repetitive motion.

Prepper ping
I like mussels in a white whine, garlic, and butter sauce.
Ha. I should be so lucky. When I wake, I take inventory of what I can't feel... If it hurts, I know it's working. If I can't feel it, it's worrisome. I look to see if anything's missing. ;-)
I pay a neighbor kid to carry my BOB
What type of medicinal mouthwash do you recommend?
Food for thought:
We know Obama has less than a year to finish his work transforming the United States. We also know there is a very good chance Trump will beat Hillary.
So... What might Obama do in the time he has left? Whatever that might be, you can be sure it will be very bad for the country.
BUT REGARDLESS OF WHAT OBAMA DOES... What will our enemies do when they see Obama’s weakness coming to an end? Their best time to strike is BEFORE he leaves, not after.
So regardless of what you think Obama might do, I strongly urge everyone who might be considering prepping to get on with it. The remaining time just might be short.
Something Missing ???

Got up and went.
While I still can.
2nd call: Weekly Prpepper list
Are you kidding me? I am a widow who has to care for my home myself. This week I must paint the front of the house, mow the lawn and trim the bushes. The pool needs maintenance and the cage needs to be pressure washed.
I cook all my own meals and wash the car and check tire pressure weekly.
I deliver food to people in need or who are currently ill. Yes, home cooked and home made bread. I am currently watching 2 neighbors homes while they are away, that is mail, papers and wind blown palm frond pick up and cut and put in barrels.
The dog and I walk about 1/4 of a mile 5 times a day and sometimes run on the return trips.
Why would I need to get more exercise? I already lift all the fertilizer and mulch several times a year. I swim March to November at home. Gardening is mostly tomatoes! To eat and can.
I am prepped to shelter in place and if I have to leave...I will be prepared and armed.
More?? I will be 80 this year and am so darn healthy I run circles around the 50-60’s!
I wish you all the same lifestyle...
Start out with what you can handle , first walking at a prescribed distance , and then gradually build up your distance and time , before you start a running program.
Otherwise , you will hurt yourself, say that it is too painful, and quit it altogether; the marathon runner trains over a long period of time for both speed and endurance.
How do I know ? Been there ,done that in college ! My kilt is tilted as I now have arthritis in one knee which now limits me in retirement from pursuing my favorite hobbies.
The same thing is true in gardening training; if you build/grow a garden too large than what you can handle, the weeds will overtake the veggies and plants, resulting in lower yields and increase your frustration.
Instead , develope good habits, and push yourself just a little further , gradually , over a period of time, and that way you grow by gradually pushing yourself.
Same thing applies to prepping: Do it gradually, develope good habits, and continue to learn, and develope your talents and abilities by exceeding your original goals/destination.
And once it becomes habit, continue to excel, re-evaluate and reset your goals to stretch your abilities.
Good advice, thanks!
I’m not planning on any marathons, but would like to get a little trimmer and in better shape. I actually think that will be easier when I retire and am not sitting behind a desk all day. But I will definitely pace myself!!
You might benefit from a whole body vibration machine as I mentioned earlier. I have a foot problem (usually caused from wearing heels, but not in my case) which seems to be alleviated when using the WBV machine. My podiatrist was pleased when I told him about it. Tried to get my husband and my son, who both have knee or back pain, to use it and they jumped off before the 1st minute. LOL. Wimps.
Getting into shape is part of prepping - preparing for whatever unknown crisis/ problem may occur.
For those of you who are interested in gardening, plants , vegetable production, self-sufficiency, increasing fertility of land , etc., etc.
please consider joining us in the "gardening " thread here at FR , as we meet almost every Friday PM , with 'greeneyes' as our moderator.
Whether you have a full garden ,or are an apartment dweller with only 2 pots, or farm commercially with 20 acres, all are welcome ,
and as 'Greeneyes' states every week: 'There is no such thing as a stupid question, except for a question that you have,.. but are afraid to ask '.
Questions having to do with insect control, greenhouses, deer control, herbs, companion planting, composting, raised bed gardening,no till gardening, etc. are all answered here.
The Gardening archive can be found at :
www.freerepublic.com/tag/gardening/index?tab=articles
And we welcome 'lurkers', preppers , etc... but would prefer your participation !
We meet almost every Friday , PM., generally after 5:00 PM .
Bugging out usually just makes one a refugee...and we know how well they generally fare.
Of course, sometimes you either have no choice (like flooding, hurricanes, etc.), or you’re bugging out to a particular place that you have (stocked and waiting) in mind, away from the trouble. If either of those is the case, then bugging out either is an option, or its the ONLY option. Otherwise, it is far better to prepare to bug IN (and, yes, being in shape helps in that situation also, and even if you never have to bug in or out).
Somehow the years snuck up on me and one day I woke up and something changed. It'll take some time, but I believe I'm on the right path. I feel so much better now.
I check my phone for the weather!
I think you are coughing up clams , and your mind is still on 'Jamestown1630's Maryland crab cakes from yesterdays food discussion.
Seafood is considered 'brain food' - and will help a spongy mind get healthier , as long as you avoid the 'hot sauce'.
What is a ‘whole body vibration’ machine? It sounds intriguing to me - I hurt someplace every day, due to a lousy spine.
