Did Donald Trump pay attention in class???

Posted on 04/23/2016 10:35:48 PM PDT by E=MC2

Several weeks ago Donald Trump suggested that he would eliminate the national debt over an 8 year time period by selling off federal assets at the rate of $2.25 trillion per year. Should a graduate of Wharton School and a real estate mogul say such a thing? Supply and demand are the most basic economic principles and are taught in Economics 101. Shouldn't such a well educated individual and one who has created an amazing awesome $10 billion (trillion? quadrillion? quintillion?) company based on real estate know that dumping that much additional real estate on the open markets would depress them and they would have to sell at much below book value? And just who is going to have the money in the first place to purchase these additional assets? The dreaded Chinese??? Sheesh. Well, at least the awesome amazing Trump has recently informed us that it was just a suggestion or a joke proposal. What a leader!!!

First of all, you know extremely little about P.T. Barnum, so allow me to educated you and anyone else here, who might care about him and stop misusing his name.

Barnum NEVER said :"THERE'S A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE.", no matter what believe.

Not only was Barnum a Republican, but a conservative one and an anti-slavery one at that. He was also a very popular Mayor of Bridgeport, Ct., but also served four terms in the Ct. Legislature.

He opened and ran a newspaper in Ct., was a talent promoter ( Jenny Lind and others ), a philanthropist, an author of several books ( one debunking spiritualists, an auto-bio, one on how to make money and a few others )an owner of museums, producer of a Minstrel show, his famous one with General Tom Thumb, Jumbo and others, and finally, in his later years a circus.

In some ways, yes , P.T. and Trump are similar; just NOT in the uneducated, very stupid, puerile way you meant it to be.

I live near the town where he and his family lived, from early COLONIAL DAYS, so I actually know all about him and his family. I have even been by his boyhood home, many time over and have visited the graveyard where his ancestors are buried.

Barnum was a many sided, very interesting man, who was a prominent historical figure in the history of not only New England, but also this nation. His family is also filled with people who should be better known.

Now that you have been schooled...go away and thing about it all.

Okay. So the alternative is to do nothing, and let the country (and the whole world behind it) go into the abyss? That is what the Democrat and Republican establishment pukes have done, and fully intend to continue.

Lots of voters are wide awake, and hopefully enough of them to defeat the defeatists, like you, and Hillary, and Cruz, and Bernie.

The insanity must stop, and Trump is the only candidate offering sane, common sense solutions to the most pressing problems created by very insane politicians.

Id like to know if the Saudi dumping threats would have the same effect.

I assume the Chinese will buy the stuff at market. The Chinese would also have no problem if the Sunni/Saudis look a little worse for wear while their Iranian allies dont look as bad.

I suggest that you clarify your choice of candidate.

Either I or many others have incorrectly guessed at whom you support.

I love the idea. Some would shudder at the thought of Saudi Arabia and China buying up the federal lands.
I would love it. The national debt could be eliminated as lands are sold at the prices of our choosing. The depressing of prices as supply exceeds demand, as would be the case in most scenarios, would not materialize, as these nations with money to burn would jump at the chance to own large chunks of America.
The ace in the hole is that we could always nationalize their purchases later (which is what has happened time and again to assets our people have owned in other countries). Yes, we could only pull such a stunt once in our history; but as things now stand, once should be enough.
I cannot see the belittling of this idea. It should be taken very seriously.

That's okay.

I hope you enjoyed my little history lesson.

I'm a BIG fan of Barnum's and wish that more people knew the truth about him.

Let us hope Trump demands that Congress respect the tax payers’ monies as much as Trump respects his. Yet, you would hand over the keys to big spenders again. Talk about “paying attention”. Talk about insanity! But you condescending jerks look down your elitist noses at Trump and then commit the same mistake over and over again, as you bray at us peons like the dumb asses you are.

Your reading comprehension and your basic sentence construction skills leave much to be desired. Your vanity is an embarrassment. For your sake and FR’s sterling reputation, I hope it serves as your opus.
