About ten years ago, the now nursing student daughter was walking past the living room while father was watching a 1940s B&W movie on TCM, and in the movie someone was making a phone call. She suddenly stopped in her tracks and exclaimed, “So THAT’S why it’s called dialing!”
That is funny. I would love to have seen the look on her face as she made that pronouncement. And probably the look on your face.
My 7 year old grandson was reading a book at my house and was trying to sound out the word ‘CLOTHESPIN’. When his dad told him how to say it, he looked at us with a puzzled look and said “What’s a clothespin?”
