I can offer insight to each maneuver you touched on there. I run a cell phone tracking company. Turning off your phone isn’t enough. Not for certain trackers (Mine doesn’t work if you turn it off, but with access levels that can be granted)(I’ll NEVER get those access levels)

I’m focusing on food production this year. I’m a machinist, and a technology guy. I can fix anything but if I touch a pepper it turns into a machine screw. I’ve got the worst green thumb of anyone I know. I simply don’t get a THING right.

” I would not transmit any data until well clear of the trouble “

Dead wrong approach. Worrying loved ones will go out and search for you no matter what. They always do.

ALWAYS communicate your status!

It isn’t like you are some kind of international spy with the bad guys looking for you so you better stay quiet.

Talking about “Grey man” first though... Grey man is a multifaceted tactic that must observe everything - including the way that you walk and your body language.

If you meet with someone in town and your pockets are empty, your tells can easily announce that you have dropped your bag just outside of town and it’s full of goodies.

Stand in front of the mirror and make yourself look REALLY sick and degraded. Convince yourself that there is nothing left. Trick yourself into being that man. Cry when you see a gun. Act, act, act.

A gun carrier who is experienced will NEVER carry himself the way that a begging, worthless pauper would. You know that at your hip you have the answer to any question. This is your tell.

I’m playing around with the idea of making my wife a “Phantom”. Where she gets the gilly suit, she gets the good rifle and she basically follows my limping, un-armed walking corpse along the tree line. That way I can trust her to take out issues without being seen.

But to date, I’m taking a housewife and training her to be a sniper. It’s very risky.

I think it’s good advice to attempt to outsmart/out maneuver the trouble. As long you’re maintaining a cool head you have an edge already.

The hardware is a last resort.

If you haven’t before, check out http://shtfschool.com

Guy got stuck in town during the Balkan wars.

It doesn’t sound like it was much fun.

[cell phone turned off]

That doesn’t do a thing, especially with newer phones.

“The Fresh Market” grocery stores are closing in North Texas, if not around the US. Everything is half off as of two days ago, and they are clearing out.
If anyone wants to stock up, though much of the options need to be frozen or scanned, start now.

I live in a wooded area of NH with friendly Republican neighbors. I stored food and firewood, but my big concern is getting a bike (in case fuel is short, car doesn’t work). If anyone has a good idea for a comfortable reliable brand of bike, let me know. Should I just hit Walmart?

An adult tricycle might be better choice, right? I can use the basket it has to bring stuff when bartering.

thx

CANNING JARS

If you ever purchase canned or jarred pasta sauce take a look at the Classico products the next time you are in a grocery store.

Classico brand pasta sauce comes in mason type jars with regular screw on tops.

The 24 ounce red sauces are sold in regular canning jars.
Sometimes you will also find the small jars with pesto or bruschetta (like 1/2 pints) that are also mason style jars.

For a store bought canned sauce Classico isn’t bad and our local stores have a Buy-One-Get-One sale on them twice a year.

There are also discount coupons available on line and in the newspaper handouts.

We clean and reuse the Classico jars and have canned all sorts of different foods in them using both water bath and pressure cooker and never had a breakage or failure to seal.

In fact, for things like pickles, pickled eggs, etc, that aren’t processed in hot water or the pressure cooker I even reuse the original tops and find that they reseal nicely.

Someday I plan on making a test batch of tomato sauce with the recycled original tops to see how they work out.

You mention getting home...which is my plan ... shelter in place.

I realized I would need a great deal to get there...across a river to a barrier Island. Causeways will be closed!

I call it my GO-BACK BAG and it is stowed under the top level of trunk in car. Inflatable, paddle, flippers, life jacket, clothing, water and snacks...on and on and matching jacket for the dog too.

I thought I was prepared and then one day it hit me...GET BACK??
