25 years ago I sat across the aisle from a gentleman who was on a ship awaiting orders to be part of the first invasion of mainland Japan in the summer of 1945. He and the others knew it was a suicide mission. He would start crying when the issue of not dropping the bomb was brought up since the bomb saved his life. He felt depressed that there were idiots would prefer that he had died for political correctness.
