In other words, massive spending and unsustainable debt is good. So is people’s dependence upon government. /sarc

The problem is you can only have so many low-paying jobs. But these are the wages (no pun intended) of a service-based economy.

Entitlements, even if productive taxpayers were not losing their hard-earned money to wasteful programs, would still be immoral. The harm that entitlements do to the recipients is sufficiently severe that any decent person (i.e., anyone but a democrat) would want to stop those programs.

For the racist democrats who want to keep blacks at the bottom of the economic ladder though, entitlements are the best option. You cannot climb to the top if you never start working.

What Obummer really means is give more free entitlements to those who are not productive, and punish those who worked hard to get ahead financially.

A large proportion of these unemployed and their dependents have been forced on the relief rolls. The burden on the Federal Government has grown with great rapidity. We have here a human as well as an economic problem. When humane considerations are concerned, Americans give them precedence. The lessons of history, confirmed by the evidence immediately before me, show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fibre. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. It is inimical to the dictates of sound policy. It is in violation of the traditions of America. Work must be found for able-bodied but destitute workers.

The Federal Government must and shall quit this business of relief.

-Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1935 State of the Union)

Entitlements are “the realities of how people live now” and “necessities of a 21st century economy,” so “we’ve got to retool our system,” Pres. Obama declared Tuesday.

Actually, this is great. Gotta keep Barry talking because when Her Heinous says that Trump wants to take America backward to make it great, we can say, "Yes, because under a late 20th century economy, people didn't need entitlements to live then."

because guaranteed benefits are a vital and immutable way of life …

redistribution as a way of life means economic stagnation, or worse decline and decay, or even mass poverty and hellholism.

“necessities of a 21st century economy”

Perhaps we should try for a 20th century economy.

The 1920’s were good for just about everyone except overindebted farmers.

Truman’s economy worked fairly well.

The early 1960’s under Kennedy were peaceful and prosperous.

Unless you overpaid for Internet stocks, the 1990’s under Hillary’s husband were fairly decent.

Things were pretty good under Reagan.

“We should guarantee paid maternity leave and paid paternity leave, too.”

Why aren’t people able to save their own money to pay for things they want in your economy President Obama?

Should we be paying people to make babies who can’t afford themselves to either save for maternity leave(or a child)?

Do we want to make baby-making into a cash-generating enterprise for the feckless?

Taxpayer paid-paternity/maternity leave assumes they are going back to work.

How would they pay for child care (sometimes $900/month/kid)when they can’t together even save $4,000 over two to fifteen years to say take two months off?

Well then people will just have to change the way they live. People made their own way before, and one way or another, they are going to be forced to do so again. Entitlements are unsustainable and as such they are going away eventually. Present-day Venezuela is the end state of 0bamanomics.

My Father told me when I was 13 Years Old that nobody owed me a Living. Looks like I’ve been living a Lie for 50 Years.

Should Hillary or any other DemoncRat win the Presidency this November, I will make it my Life’s ambition to become a Ward of the State. I’ve been a sucker long enough.
