If you’re a Christian who’s been reluctant to vote for Donald Trump because of his past - shall we say - moral shortcomings, a secondhand report of his possible salvation is certainly not a reason all by itself to change that position. And as we’ve discussed in the past, it’s entirely possible God could be using Trump regardless of his faith or lack thereof.
But one thing any Christian should recognize is that a person’s past is cleansed once they come to Christ, so if Dr. James Dobson is accurately reporting what he says happened recently, what do you do with that? There’s no embed code available, but here’s where you can hear the audio interview in which Dobson makes the claim.
Boy they really want to focus on this story, don’t they...
After Obama rolled Rick Warren, I’m skeptical of these claims from politicians.

If true, I’m really glad for him.
In any case, though, his policies were already light-years better than Hillary Clinton’s.

If this really happened, and if Trump didn’t give his express permission, then both Dobson and the pastor who told him about it have violated a sacred confidentiality by talking to the media about it.
Our sermon this Sunday happened to be about Daniel chapter 4 where King Nebuchanezzar essentially gives his testimony, as it were. Daniel forecasted that Nebuchanezzar would be forced to live like an animal for seven “times” (years? seasons? months?) if he failed to acknowledge the sovereignty of God and so he endured those seven “times” and comes back extolling the Lord God and changing his ways.
God places leaders (even Clinton and Obama) as He chooses for various reasons (one may be to set the events for the arrival of the anti-Christ and fulfillment of Revelations). He may be doing so with Trump in ways similar to the ways I thought He intended to do with Cruz.
It doesn’t change my vote but then it doesn’t need to. Trump is still more desirable than Hillary or Bernie. But if Trump believes he is directed by God to win the White House and he does it because He feels personally led, who is to disagree?
For whom God chooses, who can oppose Him? I hope Donald learns he can do anything through Christ but very little on His own power.
I’m with you. I’d rather elect Trump as as I’ve seen him up to now than any man who makes a public display of his religious side.
In fact, I don’t even think Dobson should’ve opened his big mouth. If it’s true, then the last thing a “baby Christian” needs is to have this news leak, despite what I said in my earlier reply. This is a private matter between God and Trump. Public knowledge of this just puts unnecessary pressure on him, setting him up for failure in his walk with God. But humans are humans, and I guess Dobson just couldn’t resist being the one who first told the world about the status of Mr Trump’s relationship with God. Sheesh. Just shut up already. I trust God and don’t need a bunch of flawed humans providing a self-aggrandized version of behind-the-scenes happenings.
I ferverently hope this isn’t a case where Trump is doing what I’ve suspected Ted Cruz of doing: using religion as a sanctimonious ‘prop’ to cultivate a certain segment of voters.
I’m skeptical (but hopeful) of this whole thing. The “Donald Trump” I experienced in my earlier post would not approve of this and would not want his acceptance of Christ on public display like this.

THANK you. If it’s true, we shouldn’t be reading about it and the 2 people you mention should never be trusted by Trump.
If it’s true and Trump authorized it to be “leaked,” then it’s either a farce or that makes THREE of them without good judgment.

Well it is not up to us to Judge. Dobson knows the risks of this kind of endorsement. The one that has not been recovered from was Doug Kemec Brilliant constitutional scholar totally duped and shilled the catholics to vote for Obama. He has never recovered his reputation

Anyway it could possible happen, I'm reminded of a book I read back awhile ago, The whole premise of the book was Abraham Lincoln became saved while in office, toward the later part of his administration. Though I will have to admit Trump is no Abraham Lincoln by even a far stretch, but is a lot closer to being an Abraham Lincoln then Obama tried to make himself out to be.
