Over the weekend I had the fortune of getting an embargoed copy of the 2006 television miniseries on ABC, "The Path to 9/11." After its only broadcast, ABC embargoed this---it was never released on DVD.
It is easy to see why. Clinton's fingerprints were all over the failure to stop 9/11. Sandy Berger is portrayed as a completely gutless political hack. Richard Clark is depicted as knowledgable but completely in cover-your-@ss mode all the time. But even the good FBI agents, including John O'Neill, were so constrained by the "laws of evidence" they were utterly helpless.
The CIA and the Northern Alliance had a snatch and grab of OBL in 1998 that was scotched when Berger refused to give the authorization. Wanting a subordinate to take the heat, Berger watched real time video of operatives within YARDS of OBL before cutting off the connection at his end do someone else would make the call. No one did. The bombings in Nairobi and Dar-es-Salaam followed, and Clinton fired some cruise missiles. NO ONE in the Clinton administration ever was called to account for all those deaths, which Berger could have prevented.
The show brutally shows Clinton engaging in denials of the Lewinsky affair while all this is going on.
One of the more sympathetic characters is journalist John Miller (who later wrote "The Cell") and who raised warnings about OBL--- but Miller got an interview with Bin Laden and apparently did nothing to actually catch him.
It is easy to see why ABC blocked distribution of this. The real surprise is that it ever got produced in the first place.

I suspect Trump has seen it.
I hope Trump talks about Clinton and the path to 9/11. I think Col. Buzz Patterson said in “Dereliction of Duty” that Clinton was busy with his golf game when he was trying to get Clinton to order an attack on Al Qaeda or Bin Laden.
I remember when this showed on TV. It was appalling and parts had been cut so as to not implicate Clinton too badly in the malfeasance. I remember one scene, where the leader of the Northern Alliance was blown up, and all I could think of was ‘did Clinton know this was going to happen and just looked the other way’?? I felt sorry for our allies who trusted the USA during the Clinton Admin. I have felt this way for the last 7.5 years, too.
Remember, if you saw the version that was broadcast, it was an ABBRIDGED version. Clinton administration had a say in what could or could not be shown.

Wasn’t it seriously edited (censored) before being aired originally? Is your copy pre- or post-edit?
And there will be another 9/11. It’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’.

Doesn’t the “back story” about the Road to 9/11 prove that there is censorship going on??
To me, it’s very damning, to hear that the Clintons, even before this program was broadcast, were involved in censoring certain parts of the story. Presumeably they were the parts most damaging to the Clintons.
And, can someone explain, why is it, that this docudrama, which received some high marks from critics as being a well done, accurate program, was broadcast only once?
And can someone explain, why is it, that this highly regarded program, was never made available on home video???
Clearly the answers are that the Clintons, or those allied with the Clintons, do not want this program to ever be broadcast ever again.
Is it available anywhere for the rest of us?

ABC trimmed about a minute of footage ahead of its original broadcast airing — a move the mini’s writer-producer Cyrus Nowrasteh said was due to political pressure from Democrats who disputed the facts portrayed in the script, which was critical of President Bill Clinton for not killing Osama bin Laden when given the opportunity in 1998. (ABC advertised that the mini was based on the 9/11 Commission report, but commission member Richard Ben-Veniste and the Clinton Administration were among those that disputed its version of events). That same pressure, Nowrasteh has claimed many times since, has delayed the 4 1/2-hour miniseries from being released on DVD. In other words, it all became a big morass that nobody could really fix

Since ABC controlled it (i.e. put up the production money) it can do what it wants with the show. The real question is why was it ever allowed to be produced in the first place?
Good question as to why they made it in the first place.
Of course they own it, and can do what they want. But they are bypassing some good ratings and some strong home video sales, by embargoing the program. To the extent that money talks, they are acting counter to their normal business process, by choosing to never show this program again.
