.22 Sawed Off Rifle Found in Australia

The Sun in the United Kingdom has reported that the firearm used in the murder of MP Jo Cox was a sawed off .22 rifle.  The picture above is an example of a .22 sawed off rifle that was found in Australia. From thesun.co.uk:
Last night a source said the gun used to kill married mum-of-two Jo, 41, was a sawn-off .22 rifle.

The gunman was said to have held it illegally and did not have a licence.
When we obtain an actual photograph of the weapon/weapons used, we will report it here.

Since it was used to assault him, I guess that means the media can say he was killed with an assault rifle then eh?

What those in various circles used to call the “K-mart special”.

Back in the day, one could go to the sporting goods section at
K-mart, and get a $49.99 .22 bolt action or a breech load shotgun of dubious quality. One would then proceed to saw off the barrel and stock, and add an improvised pistol grip.

Not that I’ve ever participated in this highly illegal activity of course, nor would I condone such an endeavor.

The theme here is that the criminal always finds a way.

This should become obvious to those whose minds are not made up.

In a land of no guns, the guy with a sharp stick is dangerous.

the sawn off rifle was very common in our early history. The pistol was usually a sawn off musket. They were called blanket guns and were very lethal, way beyond .357 mag. They frequently were .60 caliber and larger.
