People do things for reasons. Not always the right reasons, but generally their volition is exercised upon their thinking.
Which, leads us to consider Comey’s actions. Since it really isn’t his decision as to prosecute Hillary, why would he even make a public statement to that regard, let alone make it at a press conference.
What thinking occurred before he made his actions?
I don’t believe he took such a position nonchalantly. There are reasons why he has behaved in this fashion, and they don’t appear to be related to his governmental position, but may be intended to obstruct justice.
Oh I certainly realize about the FBI’s ability to arrest, detain, hold and question suspects AND that the final disposition over to the DoJ for indictment or to a Grand Jury.
What makes Comey’s utterly cowardly act so, so grievous is that he could have said what he said about her acts and just moved it on up to DoJ. BUT, when he (and the whole nation) were told by Lynch “she’d follow the recommendation of the FBI” then all bets were off. That bastard was LE, prosecutor, Judge and jury all rolled into one and that son of a bitch betrayed every second, minute, hour, day, weeks and months work the underlings below him worked endlessly to get him actionable evidence - and he just effing blew it, ignored and he made a POLITICAL decision he’d never have made for you or I. That bastard! How dare he.
Three words: Fort Marcy Park.
