privileged whites

I really dislike that term, which is used quite often to denigrate people who work hard and have achieved a middle-class life style.

My hubby and I would be considered "privileged whites". Let's see some history:

My husband's father died, from cancer, when he was 14. His mother, an alcoholic, had to raise 6 kids on her own (hubby was the eldest child). His brother had an accident on a motorcycle which caused a head injury and has been dealing with mental illness ever since. The insurance money from his dad's death, was eaten away by the bills to cover his brothers accident and subsequent problems.

Hubby went to college on a scholarship; but, he took longer than the scholarship lasted, so he had to finish his Bachelor's degree at a small college in Oklahoma. He was employed at 21, and has been working in the computer programming field ever since.

We married 35 years ago, and have every intention of staying married. Hubby gets up at around 4:30 am every weekday. He does his exercise bike, showers, and catches a bus for an hour long ride to work. He comes home, eats dinner, watches a little tv, goes to bed and starts all over the next day. He has been doing this, or something similar, ever since he left college. We had two children, AFTER we were married, they are now productive adults and my eldest daughter is getting married in September.

My husband did not have an easy life. He had sorrow and difficulties; but, he also worked hard at his field.

So, you want "white privilege" too? Well, you have to work hard, watch the government take money away from you to give to other people, and then you get to have people who feel entitled to what you have, without doing the same work, calling you privileged.
