“For those who might not know, the Cato Institute is owned by the Koch brothers.”
And it also looks like the Koch brothers purchased the Libertarian Party by the looks of changes to their platform from a few years ago until now.
Seems like libertarians are now globalist “free traders” and open border advocates. I guess Libertarianism is synonymous with anti-nationalism.
“We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. However, we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a credible threat to security, health or property.”
Remember, CATO and pure libertarians are for open boarders.
Weren't they always?
Tariffs and Quotas
Like subsidies, tariffs and quotas serve only to give special treatment to favored interests and to diminish the welfare of other citizens. We therefore support abolition of all tariffs and quotas as well as the Tariff Commission and the Customs Court. First Libertarian Platform (1972)
Libertarians apparently don’t believe in diverse governments competing for best ideas and methods. Global government is all about the end of competition and the end of any power group’s ability to challenge a dictatorial, rogue government. Thanks libertarians for siding with despotism.
