Speaking at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting of the Young African Leaders Initiative that now that he is reaching the end of his term the press is feeling sentimental toward him.
You know, right now Im at the end of my presidency, so the press is kind of feeling a little sentimental, he said. And they think: Ah, you know, hes gotten old. Look at him, you know, weve beat him up. And, so, you know, now lets focus on the new guys coming in.
But, Obama said, there have been times where I thought the press was very unfair. And I would open up the newspapers and I would go, what! And I would start arguing.
