Wow! Sounds as though you discovered it before I did! I truly did not dare to hope that a natural substance could really help to this degree. I now consider the ibuprofen to be a valid cannon to use in my arsenal, but only for dire need. I do wish you well in your pain management journey. My Darlin is encouraging me to mention that there are pain management support groups available in many communities and online.
I’ve been reading about turmeric, and it has a lot of wonderful benefits, including what you point out: brain function.
Just did another quick search and found this list of 20 benefits to taking supplements and eating turmeric in foods:
http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/20-health-benefits-of-turmeric.html
We’ve been eating more east Indian foods (red dot, not feathers...although certainly the feathers have wonderful healing traditions too!) We have been using saffron more, along with some of the baking sauces like tika marsala and biryani.
I have not yet done so, but now that I know that turmeric is so important, I am thinking I might seek to obtain some roots and start a patch. (Pinging greeneyes here...It may also have prepping implications...hence also pinging Tilted Irish Kilt - there is a discussion of the use of turmeric as pain reliever upthread.)
Thanks for the ping. I used to sprinkle turmeric into a lot of my cooking just because of the known benefits. A good sprinkle in chicken soup makes it a very nice rich/yellow color.
However, I have taken turmeric capsules off and on for the last several years. Especially instead of ibuprofen for inflammation, due to the stroke risks associated with ibuprofen.
