Too Close for Comfort

Wild boar hunting is an extreme sport and can be quite dangerous and meant only for the thrill seeking hunters and sharpest shooters.

The following video below shows these hunters really taking this close quarter shooting at a really close distance. The problem is that these guys were pulling it in ways that most would deem unsafe.

Tell that to the boar about to bite their face's off! the video just about every “safe shooting rule” in the book was thrown out the window while trying to get a shot at the charging boar.

From the perspective of the hunter when a wild boar is charging. There isn’t any place to hide, and you have a loaded gun in your hands you may not be thinking too clearly either! Check these mad pigs out.

Trivia: wild boar has been prevalent in the mountains of Japan for centuries. Buddhists who lived in the mountains hunted boar, calling it yamagujira, or "mountain whale." This was because they were supposed to refrain from animal meat but could eat anything from the ocean, so they figured calling a boar a whale made it less of a karma issue. If you call a tail a leg...

I knew NOTHING about these wild animals until I saw “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” earlier this year.

Frightening——and a good movie.

Yep!
A few years back we had a plague of those things here in W. MI. It seems that there were some escapees from game ranches.
The DNR, for once smart, ordered a shoot-on-sight. But this ol’great granny stopped her solo wanderings.
I’m no longer fast enough to out run ‘em nor strong enough to carry the fire power to stop ‘em.
The locals must have taken the permission literally, becsusde I haven’t seen any sign or heard of any lately.

Semi auto shotgun, seven shots of 3in mag and 00 buckshot.

That’s the only way to go into the woods against a big boar.

And at that, you still need a partner similarly armed to cover your 6.

Otherwise you may not come out and never be seen again.

I’ve see boar hit with 3 shots of 200gr 30.06...still coming. At about 30mph.

I’m picturing primitively man in the same situation with just a flint tipped spear.

I turned around a charging 200 lb. hog with a 3-tined pitchfork. The center tine went right down his throat. He turned and ran from me. We eventually got him back into the barnyard.
