Actually it has all the hallmarks of classic brainwashing.
Good table manners are the same.
There IS "good" and "bad" brainwashing.
My father taught us impeccable table manners. And, when on a dinner date I would take note of a "pig" eater and never see him again.
Imagine having to watch that in a spouse for DECADES. Ugh.
BUT, I knew that I go ANYwhere for dinner and be comfortable.
