i couldn’t disagree more. in fact, if i had any say, the traitor roberts would have been impeached and cashiered long ago.
may God help us rid ourselves of the monstrosity of obamacare though the election of President Trump. it is still with us today thanks to roberts and the gope congress, taking people’s health, livelihoods and lives as we speak.
Maybe Roberts is a Marxist traitor who can’t understand basic english in the US Constitution.
He could only have done that by knowing the future. So me thinks not.
The precedent he set by imposing a tax for merely existing will resonate for a century or more. So, no he didn’t do us any favors.
Roberts did this by redefining the cost as a tax (ironically after, Obama-ites had worked mightily to pretend it was not a tax).
The individual mandate has to go.
Once again, let me explain Roberts’ reasoning.
1) The SCOTUS at the time was actually as it is now, split between liberals and conservatives. Justice Kennedy, the treacherous, would vote with the conservatives on small cases, but would invariably vote with the liberals on big stuff, like Obamacare. Kennedy was actually *hoping* to be the big swing vote to *pass* Obamacare, and thus he would be remembered in the law books for that.
Chief Justice Roberts could not stop him in any way. Had Roberts voted with the conservatives, not only would they have lost, but the liberals would have written the decision, in of course, the most liberal of ways.
2) But by voting *for* Obamacare, Roberts won the day. And Justice Kennedy was *livid* at Roberts for denying Kennedy his victory. So he voted with the conservatives, not that it mattered.
But also, by voting *for* Obamacare, Roberts would be with the majority, in which case one of the few powers the Chief Justice has, is to determine *who* writes the decision. And Roberts decided that *he* would write the decision.
3) In writing the decision, Roberts undermined Obamacare and inserted “poison pills” into it. The liberals were unhappy with this, but didn’t dare to vote against Obamacare.
4) Roberts most important poison pill was to call the individual mandate a tax.
Typically, when Democrats pass some horrific giant program, they are able to block Republican efforts to repeal it, because it needs a 2/3rd vote in the senate to do so. Otherwise, they just mount a defense, so America is stuck with their nightmare forever.
But the one exception to this are taxes. According to the constitution, taxes can *only* be decided by a simple majority. At no time can the minority in congress block a change in taxation.
5) I know this all sounds convoluted, but Chief Justice Roberts *guaranteed* that if they wanted to, the next time the Republicans controlled congress and the presidency, they could *kill* the individual mandate, and thus most of Obamacare, with just a simple majority vote.
So do not curse Chief Justice Roberts. He out-strategized his, and our enemies. By his actions alone, we will finally be rid of Obamacare.
Yeah, it turned out to be a favor, but this man should be relieved of his post. He is an icon for what is wrong with the US Government.
