Disturbing reports are coming in that Twitter has taken down a photo that showed President Barack Hussein Obama holding something truly despicable.
The image reportedly showed Obama holding the book "The Post-American World," which was written by radical Muslim author Fareed Zakaria.
"In the book, Zakaria argues that, thanks to the actions of the United States in spreading liberal democracy across the world, other countries are now competing with the US in terms of economic, industrial, and cultural power," the Wikipedia description read. "While the US continues to dominate in terms of political-military power, other countries such as China and India are becoming global players in many fields."
"The world is moving from anger to indifference, from anti-Americanism to post-Americanism," Zakaria wrote. "The fact that new powers are more strongly asserting their interests is the reality of the post-American world. It also raises the political conundrum of how to achieve international objectives in a world of many actors, state and non-state."
It's disturbing that our own president was spotted reading such a blatantly anti-American book. It's also sickening that Twitter submitted to Obama by removing the image of him holding Zakaria's work…

I seem to remember seeing this book in his hand, with an accompanying story shortly after he took office. Walking from AF1 to his limo.
Obama’s thoughts of a post-American world have led him to contemplate the world in a post-Obama America.
IIRC, the photo dates back eight years. He might’ve still been president-elect when it first surfaced.
He read the book back in 2008. This is an old photo.
I also remember a picture of President Bill Clinton holding the same book during his own presidency. But it appears not to be online anymore.
Whatever else is wrong with Zakaria, this is not a despicable premise, it is simply realistic.
Its a rather common thing in most foreign policy thinking since the 1990’s. That other countries are growing in relative strength and the US is being overtaken as other economies grow, relatively. This has been happening since the 1950’s. Japan and Germany, to start.
You will see aspects of it in Huntington, etc. Zakaria is not original.
As for actually declining US power (as opposed to relatively), well, it is. An unfortunate reality the result of ongoing decadence and cultural decline, among other things. Its pretty much a conservative standard, go read Angelo Codevilla for instance.
As for the optics of Obama, thats a problem for him I suppose. But for us, we should not fear or hate any book.
