What was needed here when Zimmerman was released is a postmortem affadavit from the District Attorney that had Trayvon Martin survived, he would have been charged with Florida code 782.051 -- Attempted felony murder based on the fact that Z's head was wounded plus the testimony of the neighbor who saw it.

Too late now, but Z should never have been charged, especially after his justifed release after intense questioning by law enforcement, but reinstituted significantly later under social pressure.
