Wow. I am old enough to have heard about this in the news, so why don’t I remember hearing about this? It must have been considered faux news and been blocked out by abc, nbc and cbs the only news networks at the time as I remember it. Was CNN even around then? Of course, back then, TV stations shut down at midnight, so there was no all night news or anything else all night on TV. Also you had to watch the news at its scheduled time or you missed it. How times have changed. I remember when it was a big thing back in the 70s that a local TV station, started playing a midnight Friday night movie which eventually expanded to the weekend midnight Friday and Saturday movies.

Yes back then it was easy to suppress the news.
