We shouldn’t shut down immigration, just shut down ALL illegal immigration (and deport ALL illegals, no matter how long they have been here). Then we should set the rate for legal immigration based only on what is best for Americans: the number of legal immigrants, their required skills/education, and their countries of origin should be decided by Congress based on our needs. The best immigration rate may be very low, but it (probably) shouldn’t be zero.
What is the net *emigration* level from the US each year? (Among legal immigrants to their new country, not because of illegals being deported back)
I’d think it is pretty low, maybe 25,000-50,000 or less, and mostly to other developed countries such as Canada, western Europe, Japan or Australia.
