U.S. Navy strike group headed for Korean peninsula

Hello there, Bowl Cut Jr.

It’s been pretty easy for Kim Jong Un since he assumed power in 2011 to provoke the rest of the world any way he wanted. As long as Barack Obama was president of the United States, he could be assured that he could do missile tests and take Americans prisoner, and the scariest American who would show up in his country would be Dennis Rodman.

Obama was predictable. Predictably weak and unwilling to take action.

We’ve been paying the Norks for years, it didn’t start with Obama.

It’s a very dangerous situation, but we must be vigilant.

How hard would it be to drop a missile on Kim’s review stand during a May Day parade?

It’d be easy if the president decides it’s necessary.

Our options in North Korea are very limited, they have thousands of artillery guns aimed at Seoul. One wrong move and South Korea’s capitol gets blasted.

The defenses NK has erected on the border beggar the imagination. We must also remember the severe limitations of air power. One Navy Carrier Group couldn’t do jack to the NK.

Studying the last Korean War is very instructive. Sure they are lead by a psycho. Just like last time. This time SK is prepared to repel an invasion. But attacking the NKs would be as sanguinary as any battle in history. And it’s doubtful any force could gain ground northward without the use of tactical nukes.

SK has had decades to gradually move its capital south out of artillery range. If I lived in SK it sure would not be near the border!

Seoul and the surrounding areas have over 25 million people. The population of S. Korea is over 50 million. So about half the population lives around Seoul. It is only about 35 miles south of the DMZ and in range of the Nork’s arty. I would not want to be in Seoul when the balloon goes up.
