Without cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other non-discretionary spending you will never balance anything.

You'll get nowhere with that idea here on FR, Dawg.

The I PAID IN!!! THE GOVERNMENT PROMISED!!! crowd is pretty vocal, and Trump heard them.

We will drive the Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid bus until the wheels simply come off in a couple of decades.

At that point, no one will care about who paid in, or who promised them what.

The real problem is that many responsible folks included Social Security and Medicare in their financial planning for retirement. They were assured that was a sound policy.

In the early 1990's the company I worked for got rid of its pension program. I had planned on a pension and it took me 20 years to fully recover.

If we hope to repair SS and Medicare we'll need lots of runway to allow folks to revise their financial plans (assuming they have a plan).
