If you listen carefully to the lyrics there can be no doubt that today's "typical" minority child would benefit hugely....HUGELY...if the those communities were to universally recognize that this story is pivotal to the well being of their kids.

My parents read to me early and often. I still love reading aloud with my adult daughter
My dad would tell us the history of the area we lived in. It was rich and deep and gave an authentic feel to the place. It taught me how to appreciate oral histories so when I heard the stories from my math teacher about how time in a POW camp in Manchuria during WWII, I paid great attention

Looks like this author is a little short in the critical thinking skills area. He only sees black.
Critical thinking skill turns you into a leader, not a follower. Black kids need to learn to carve their own paths, not follow the ones that white supremacy has put in front of them. A critical thinker is an intellectual leader, someone who can differentiate common sense from a popular lie. They aren’t going to learn this from the school system, because conformity is rewarded in most white supremacist systems.
There-in lies your problem. I refer you to any Asian in the USA, they learned early to follow the rules and excel at them. Now they are at the top of many organizations. See and learn. Oh and whites, you are losing to the Asians, wake up!

This guy wants us to think he really cares and has the intelligence to make this argument. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s obvious he’s as deficient in thinking skills as those he purports to be leading to a better place.
- Reading: Advocating for reading only black authors in order to be “authentic” is ludicrous on its face. Nothing wrong with including black authors in a list of age-appropriate reading that advances clear-headed thinking and good morals. For that matter, the McGuffey Reader series from ages ago would be a great start, IMO.
- Writing: Here’s where his thinking really shows inconsistency because grammar is what separates those who can write clearly and those who cannot organize a cogent argument.
- Math: Yes, it is a problem-solving process that creates logic and follows a process. However, it is not the only approach. Learn math for its own reasons and the doors it opens to improve yourself.
- Black History: Total BS argument with the usual slavemaster crap. Just one step from advocating for reparations.
- Start a business: No concept of how to capitalize is presented yet the author represents himself as a consultant and expert on black finance.
- Critical thinking: An argument area I can mostly agree with as hip-hop has led the black community to the abyss in my opinion. Too bad the author doesn’t know the difference between mind-numbing and “mind-dumbing”. Guess he’s listened to too much hip-hop...
Well that right there is a bigger problem than not reading at all. Reading racist crap is worse than remaining ignorant.
