It is a lot like Atkins. The ketogenic diet is used to treat some epileptics that don’t respond to medication.
Some of the epileptic’s are also having luck on a Modified Atkins Diet that is less restrictive than the ketogenic diet.
The keto diet works well at controlling seizures but the parents I know who have kids try it say that it is very hard to maintain. Those parents and kids are very motivated to maintain because the alternative is seizures.
U can’t imagine regular people maintaining it.
Currently very popular among athletes - including pro athletes - for fat loss. It is counter intuitive but it works.
Very promising for correcting liver and bile function.
I would not recommend it for more than 3 or so days a week as carbohydrates are needed for healthy brain function - especially for women.
I can get into a ketogenic state quickly so I only follow it half of each day.
