House to vote today on ObamaCare repeal/replace
Canada Free Press ^ | 05/04/17 | Dan Calabrese

Nail biter?

I’m thinking it will be close no matter what, but last time around they never even got to a vote because support was tanking right up to the time it was supposed to happen, and finally Paul Ryan pulled the bill because the failure was going to be monumental.

This time? Do they know for sure that they’ve got the votes? And if so, what did they do to the bill to get there?

Thursday suddenly got tense, friends:

The latest iteration of the GOP bill would let states escape a current requirement that insurers charge healthy and seriously ill customers the same rates, a measure that has drawn the ire of some moderate Republicans.

It MIGHT make it out of the House, but then the Senate gets to put their ‘items’ in it and then it goes back to the House and then on to the President...

President Trump is solid on HIS healthcare...one of his promises, it fails again then Ryan is finished as Leader of the House, rightfully so, and then we can clean house come 2018...that is if people are paying attention...

One thing is for sure, whatever we don’t want them to do they WILL do! And, with smiles on their faces just to piss us off further.

It will be just like the budget.

Repeal it and then replace it with identical replica with the new name.

Do I sound jaded? Betrayed, even?

What if we live in a socialist state like New York?

Does “repeal and replace” have anything for us? Does it set us free at all?

We have to pass the bill before we get to see what’s in it.

Eventually cross state insurance will bring competition.

Does it still have the mandate? Sorry I have lost track and interest. I have accepted the fact that it is a lost cause.

This seems like an acceptable compromise, the fact that there will exist a waiver system allowing states to opt out of forced similar coverage for those with pre-existing conditions is key. More details here:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/05/04/republican-health-care-bill-whats-in-it.html

States that desire such waivers will have to set up high risk pools so as to defray the cost to the insurance companies (somewhat) of separating the two groups. Not a perfect solution but better than Obamacare that in effect lumped them all together thus driving up the cost for everyone.

I would have preferred that the default state be that those with preexisting conditions NOT be automatically covered and if states want to force insurance companies in their borders to do so they would have to apply for such a waiver. But it’s a compromise.

At least a step in the right direction so I can support it. BUT, make no mistake, this is not a substantive change from Obamacare. Of course Trump didn’t promise such a change since he said “everyone would be covered”.

After the changes in the Senate, it will go back to House where it will fail to pass. This is just buying time. Trump will by then have gotten his tax bill passed and moved on to the 2018 budget. The government will shut down and he will let ObamaCare implode, by holding the subsidies to insurance companies. By the end of the year the Dem’s and Rino’s will be begging for help.

Could happen this way.

Not part of the bill.
