Thanks. I like to give my brother-in-law WWII books as presents, I can add that one to the list. Or I’ll just get it for myself.
Recent ones have been a couple of Hornfischer books on the Navy: “The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors: The Extraordinary World War II Story of the U.S. Navy’s Finest Hour” and “Neptune’s Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal”
Hornfischer is an excellent writer. I really enjoyed the Tin Can Sailors, someone needs to turn that book into a movie. I’m waiting for my bro-in-law to read the Guadalcanal book so that I can borrow it.
I’m sure you would both enjoy the book.

Years ago I read a book about the Navy picket ships protecting the fleet from Kamikaze’s during the battle of Okinawa. It was excellent. I can’t remember the name or author. You might have read it.
