Comedienne Kathy Griffin caused a firestorm on Twitter on May 30 after she posted a picture of herself and a fake severed head of President Donald Trump (video below).
According to TMZ, Griffin was photographed by Tyler Shields, who has a reputation for shocking pictures.

After hours of outrage on Twitter, Griffin removed the tweet, and tweeted a video apology:
I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction of these images. I'm a comic. I cross the line, I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn't funny.
I get it. I've made a lot of mistakes in my career, I will continue. I ask your forgiveness, taking down the image, gonna ask the photographer to take down the image. And I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake and I was wrong.
Griffin's CNN co-host for New Year's Eve, Anderson Cooper, tweeted his disapproval of the image: "For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate."
CNN issued a statement to Mediaite.com that seemed to call into question Griffin's status for its New Year's Eve 2017 broadcast:
We found what she did disgusting and offensive. We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down. We are evaluating New Years Eve and have made no decisions at this point.
ABC News host Jake Tapper also weighed in on Twitter: "For those asking, I said on air that I thought the beheading imagery by Griffin about the president was disgusting and inappropriate."
Chelsea Clinton condemned Griffin's original tweet with her own tweet: "This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president."
Scottie Nell Hughes, a Trump surrogate who often appears on CNN, tweeted her condemnation: "When will HOLLYWOOD stop trying to get laughs by encouraging violence/hate. I hope u will stand w/ me & say [kathygriffin] crossed the line."
Donald Trump Jr., whose father has attacked people for years on Twitter, tweeted his disgust: "Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. They consider this acceptable. Imagine a conservative did this to Obama as POTUS?"
Revelist noted in November 2016 some of the numerous racist and threatening pictures that were put on social media against Obama following his election win in 2008.

That picture shows what the Left would do to every one of us, if they could figure out how to.
The only thing that stops them is the Second Amendment. Obama would have done it if he could’ve.
Dear Kathy: your picture will live forever. Thanks for the warning. It won’t be forgotten.
She can apologize from prison.
CNN is just concerned how they are going to save Kathy’s job with them.
Die, hag.
Has anyone on the Left condemned her yet? The silence is deafening. What has Nancy Pelosi have to say about this?
It’s time to let their advertisers know that we will not be supporting anyone who supports CNN and their ISIS princess.
Chelsea Clinton, who really doesn’t count.
To her credit, the apology was a decent one... most likely because she knows that D-list entertainers are one wrong move from permanent obscurity... but no matter the reason, it is refreshing to see a REAL apology in a public setting.
It was a fake act of contrition as far as I am concerned. F. her.
There is always someone that is fooled by a false act of contrition. Congratulations.
She apologizes only because she has to do damage repair.

apologize all ya want Dahlink- Your soul was laid bare- too late to put the toothpaste back in the tube
>> Its time to let their advertisers know
Let AT&T know that you’re not interested in the Time Warner deal.
There are 4 major corporations largely responsible for the MSM mayhem: Disney, Comcast, Time Warner, CBS. But most everyone bitches about the MSM pawns on the payroll.
Imagine conservative families stop going to Disney World. Imagine conservative families find alternatives to Comcast ISP. Imagine AT&T cellular subscribers switch to Verizon.
Seriously, the MSM brats are largely on the payrolls of the aforementioned corporations.
She actually thought that picture would bring her fame and fortune.
She ain’t sorry. She rolled the dice and crapped out, that’s the only thing she’s sorry about.
Meanwhile, CNN is troubled, deeply troubled as much as the French commander was shocked, completely shocked.
Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer) also apologized but he was not forgiven for doing far, far less. But then he is not a protected species.
No.
She spent at least an afternoon doing this photo shoot. Several make-up artists and crew spent hours making a bloody head. This was not a spur of the moment thing.
I suspect they were all having a good time. For hours. And they thought how “shocking” it would be. They never imagined.
This is an act beyond the pale of civil society.
For her to pose as an islamist jihadi with a head trophy is beyond words. This is not something that can be accepted by anyone, except the enemy. Shame on her, and the photographer, and the “artists” who made this. They should be shunned.
The apology is nice, and we should accept it for what it is. An apology where she says she goes over the line as a comedienne and went over the line here. That’s not an apology.
That’s admission that she achieved what she intended. To go over the line. And she certainly did.
She’s no Lenny Bruce saying curse words, she is now the poster child of the left for a savage, incorrigible act. Period.
Shame on her and all those involved.
I read that one network ran a "behind-the-scenes" background story regarding this photo shoot, wherein Kathy Griffin reportedly said that if the public reaction to the photo was too negative, she'd simply issue a "fake apology" and move on...
