Protesters Interrupt Trump-Inspired 'Julius Caesar' Theater Production
The Hollywood Reporter ^ | June 16, 2017 | Jennifer Konerman

The production was accused of promoting violence against the right as the contemporary take includes a bloody assassination of the main character modeled after the president.

Two protesters interrupted a controversial production of Julius Caesar on Friday, which features a Trump-like character in the role of Caesar, currently being put on by New York's Public Theater.

"Stop the normalization of political violence against the right! This is unacceptable," one protester yelled as she walked toward the stage, according to video she posted to Periscope. Security was called as the second protester yelled at the crowd, calling them "Nazis" and accusing members of the crowd of being like Joseph Goebbels. A New York Police Department official confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a 24-year-old female protester was arrested and is currently in custody with charges pending.

The play, which runs through Sunday at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre, tells the story of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar but with contemporary costumes and its main character, played by Gregg Henry, sporting yellow hair, a Trump-style suit and long red tie. This version of the play, directed by the Public Theater's artistic director Oskar Eustis, also includes the character's assassination but this time it's the Trump figure who dies.

"Shame on Kathy Griffin and shame on all of you for promoting political violence against Donald Trump," she was heard yelling as she was led away. The two protesters posted their own videos of the event live online, and viewers in the audience captured the incident as well.

Though Delta and Bank of America this week pulled their sponsorship of New York's Public Theater because of the controversy surrounding the production, Actors' Equity Association remains supportive of the show.

Delta said that the play "crossed the line on the standards of good taste" and that the play "does not reflect Delta Air Lines' values," while Bank of America said it pulled its support as the play "was intended to provoke and offend," an intention that the company was not aware of.

Several Hollywood figures, including Beau Willimon, Carrie Coon and Amber Tamblyn, have voiced their support for the play, as American Express distanced itself in a statement this week from the production, but kept its sponsorship of the Public Theater.

>The New York Post coverage was horrible, going out of its way to label one of the as Alt-right and the other at a conspiracy theorist. When do they have take such pains when left wing radical protesters interrupt and event?

All people are going to hear is people fighting back against a play celebrating murdering President Trump. It gives patriots courage and outrages the yelping rat dogs of the left.

If Donald Trump is Julius Caesar, they should perhaps cast John McCain as Brutus, Lindsey Graham as Cassius, Jeff Sessions as Cato, Ted Cruz as Anthony, and Chuck Schumer as Octavian. I don’t remember if Cicero is in the play, but he could be Andrew Wilkow.

Me too.

I’ve protested with a sign outside of movie theaters on STaten Island was an over the top America hating film.

In this scenario, I Wish they’d bring the production to Staten Island for a week so we could beat them like they were fresh dough for a pizza.

>I support the intent and purpose and sentiment of the protesters, but do not support their resort to law-breaking. If conservatives support “the rule of law,” shouldn’t we obey it?

The left makes the rules and it’s time to shove those rules back down their throats until they decide the rule of law is better.

James Comey killed the law when he did not lay charges against the Clintdog.

There is no law if it does not apply to everyone equally. The left will never stop until they are made to realize that nobody, including their leaders are above the law.

Thomas Paine concurs. You don’t like the law, you change it. Otherwise, you follow it.

It is a grand tradition of the entertainment industry that the audience hiss, boo, and demand the hook for low-quality entertainers. And quality is exclusively in the eye of the audience member.

Nothing against the law in any of that.

Jack Posobiec ANd Laura Loomer Wreak Havoc at NYC Trump Assasination Play
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3561697/posts

Laura Loomer is a social media journalist on Twitter.

Famously, she recently annoyed Boss Pantsuit's daughter, Princess Chelsea:

Laura Loomer‏ @LauraLoomer Jun 6

I asked @ChelseaClinton to sign her new book #ShePersisted for @atensnut, a woman who's persisted & been silenced.

On Twitter, @atensnut is Juannita Broaddrick.

Juannita personally gave Laura props for this on Twitter.
