I knew several psychiatrists during my tenure as a medic in the Army, from Vietnam and afterward, and IMHO they were all crazy as loons.

I know that Scientology is very anti-psychiatry as well, and so I’m always a bit suspicious when I run across such critiques.

Psychologists seem a little steadier across the board, and don’t require MD degrees as do their psychiatric “betters”, shall we say.

Though as I mentioned, I knew a lot of MDs in the military, and still have several that I see on a regular basis, and I’ve generally always been impressed by their acumen. However, if any one of them mentioned that I should see a psychiatrist, I’d drop that doctor in a hearbeat, MD or no.

True, but for the most part the vast majority of opponents of the Psych cult, other than survivors have been conservative Christians and anti-communists.

Usually, the Psychs will use Scientology as a straw man argument against critics to silence them. It no longer works.

You should see half the 4ssh0l3s they have in military medicine now. Long term pain is near automatically considered "psychosomatic"......as if you just imagined getting shot or blown up. Then they load up the patients with anti-depressants, and everything is happy.

I avoided the wizards like the plague. Even the "safe" ones that do marriage counseling are BS. My ex and I went to an on base counselor to discuss ways to deal with my return from my second combat deployment (I had gotten wounded and unbeknownst to me she was screwing around).

Instead of discussing things like adjusting routines and household responsibilities, he only wanted to talk about how much I drank (hardly at all, drink or two maybe once a month), and were we sure, like really really sure I didn't drink. And if I wasn't drinking, was it possible I was drinking? Did I hit her? Was she really sure I didn't hit her? Not even when I was really angry? What about by accident? Could I please leave the room? Was she really sure I didn't drink or hit her? From the waiting area I could hear her cussing him out that I didn't drink or hit her.

The one thing we agreed on, neither of felt comfortable talking to the marriage or family counselors and that they were quacks.

F###ers all.
