With an antenna, your husband can still watch his local team. And if he really wants Monday night football at home, he may need a subscription service like Sling TV.

I was almost ready to cut the cord with DirecTV after paying way too much. Called to cancel. Customer retention has me at $28/month for 12 months with Sports pkg free for 6 months. Looks like I’ll cut the cord next year :)

Congrats to you!! Freedom from the mainstream morons is so wonderful as well as to know your money is not contributing to the acts of treason against our President.

Happy 4th to this great country and her citizens.

You won't regret it! Made that choice over five years ago now and saved thousands of dollars as a result.

I put up a 75 mile range antenna on a rotor myself and pick up TV stations out of Chicago, South Bend, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids and other places quite easily.

Truth is, there's quite a few channels however not so many "good" ones. More "shopping channels" and "religious" channels than anything else however channels like Me-TV, "Movies!" and others are pretty acceptable IMO.

I personally don't watch much TV anymore. I watch more Netflix on my iPad or Computer than anything else and typically only when I'm working on it/doing something. Beyond that I stream music quite a bit.

It takes a bit of getting used to, yes there is a "detox" period of not having hundreds of channels to go through only to find more crap than anything when having Satellite/Cable but it's worth it once the detox is over.

Been there, done that, never going back.

Dropped cable in January. It was an adjustment because I’m a news junky but after 30 days I realized it was all background noise. Rush has said this but I was already doing it. Quit listening to the news for 30 day and you will be much more positive. After all, good news is not news.

Oh and enjoy the extra $100 bucks in your pocket every month. It feels good !

If over the air TV can make it with just commercials, why do satellite/cable services charge so much?

(Because they can!!!)

I called Direct TV several mos ago and told them I could no longer afford the monthly premium so without a fight they offered me $12.95 per month for 12 months. Netflix is offering a $35 per month deal that must be killing them.

I had almost the exact same experience in the same area (Rochester, Syracuse) i cut the a cable and went with Roku and a $30 antenna. I don’t miss Direct TV at all. I pay $35 for PlayStation vue, $10 for Netflix, & $3 for Channel Pear. $48 total. I mostly watch OAN, Infowars, and network sports on the weekends...mainly golf. Congrats! You are giving the liberal media what they deserve...extinction.

Had dish for years, then dropped them. Was cable-free for many years. Wife wanted Directv so we subscribed, but I really don't like the service. I can do without TV (I rarely watch). One thing that amazed me is the sheer number of infomercial channels!

Enjoy being free. Invest in books, rediscover the lost art of conversation The farther away from cable you get, you will realize how much garbage is being broadcast. It's a lifestyle change - congrats.

Get Roku or a smart TV and watch steaming videos on Netflex or some other really cheap network.

Welcome to the club! When we travel, we bunk at RV campgrounds that have cable. I watch cooking shows, spousal unit likes movies, and we congratulate each other for not paying for all the junk. ROKU is a good choice, too.

Did that a few years ago. All the dish type services have become junk and scam.

Made my own ant and have it in the attic. Pick up stations form all over-well over 40. Two pretty good movie channels-lot of John Wayne and older very good movies.

You can make your own antenna for less than 20 bucks. Its on Youtube.

I got a smart TV and watch streaming now a lot.
