Despite the oil industry being arguably the most vital and influential sector in the world, the average member of the public knows relatively little about its inner workings. Oil prices are possibly the most obvious example of this, with constant discussions over whether they will drop below $40 or if they are set to rise. What many investors are unaware of, however, is that there are over a thousand types of crude oil. This means that Western Canadian Select, currently trading at 37.27, is already below that much-hyped $40 mark, and while Brent oil prices fell nearly 50 cents on Thursday, Qatars Marine blend was up by a dollar.
As you can imagine, this data is incredibly valuable for everyone from oil traders to geopolitical analysts and as such, it has been bought up and sold for tens of thousands of dollars by major data providers.
But those days are now over
Oilprice.com readers now have total access to the oil industrys most valuable information - shining a light on the corners of the oil markets that were previously hidden from 99.9 percent of investors and energy enthusiasts.

Houston is considered the oil capital of the world, but the job situation among O&G engineers is dismal. They come a dime a dozen in the BS and MS variety. It is not a good time to be a Chem.E. these days. Where are all the LNG design jobs now that we are supposed to supply Poland, China and Ukraine with gas? Which EPC companies are doing the design?
The industry is coming back in Houston. I can feel it.
Oil and Gas Tech writer here.
I pray your feelings are correct.
O&G Tech writer;
Do you have any idea what time frame you expect the turnaround to take place?
End 2017? 2018? or 2019? Will LNG design be done in Houston? Any EPC companies that you know of? Right now, O&G companies are only fishing for resumes but are not hiring. The same want ads are placed for months on end.
The price of oil needs to rise if we are to regain our awesomeness in Houston.
With oil low, companies aren’t hiring.
I do not know the time frame.
I am currently in a non O&G position, out of necessity.
