Trump cheered, Obama booed: Boy Scouts know their friend (Obama was an Indonesian Scout, not BSA)

President Donald Trump received big-time cheers during delivery of remarks at the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree.

Barack Obama, however? Not so much.

“By the way, just a question,” Trump said to the crowd, The Hill reported. “Did President Obama ever come to a jamboree?”

He was never a Boy Scout, Indonesian or otherwise.

We need to find out if the Indonesian Scout Association promotes Islam! (I'll bet it does).... I will try to do some online research on this..... certainly in the USA many scout troops are sponsored by churches, and one of the 12 parts of the Scout Law is that a scout is "reverent." Ofc in the USA scouts overall are non-denominational, but Indonesia is overwhelmingly a Muslim population and it would seem likely they their scouting organization is intertwined with Islam. Ofc Obama was a boy then (so not making his own adult choices), but it would be "interesting" to know the extent to which he was indoctrinated in Islamic theology and practice. This is the kind of "research" that never was done sufficiently when Obama became our President with so little vetting!

I don’t know about Indonesia, but here the Cubs and Webelos are part of the BSA, so technically they are scouts too. I was a Den Chief (older Boy Scout who assisted the Den Mother) in addition to my other roles in Scouting. I was never a Cub or Webelo.

well..... just looking around on a few sites, including the official one, it does not appear that the Indonesian Scout Assn. places any particular emphasis upon Islam..... although what is true today would not necessarily be true 50 yrs ago.... but then Indonesia is not known as one of the more doctrinaire Islamic countries anyway....

I was in Cub Scouts and Webelos and later Boy Scouts. There is also Explorers.

Obama was a Cub Scout, he was never a Boy Scout.

Yep, we Boy Scouts always drew a distinction. When I was growing up, Cub Scouts were an excuse to wear a uniform to daycare. Boy Scouts changed youth into men much earlier than those who didn’t spend time in the system. Boy Scouts learned and participated in many “grown man” activities that others only experienced after graduating high school.
