Tha fainting goat is a meat breed but you need to find someone specifically breeding for that. Some people are breeding them to be small, cute pets. Much easier to fence in than most goats due to their leg stiffness condition. Kikos are big and can be a bit on the wild side. The breed was created by mixing domestic goats with wild goats. Boer was created in dry Africa and so they have parasite and hoof problems in most of the US. High maintenance. Spanish meat goats are another breed of meat goat. I think it’s the biggest breed for the commercial growers.

I AM waiting (impatiently!) for my Holstein/Black Angus Steer to show up from the neighbors. Now THAT is some good eating...when all is said and done and he’s in my freezer in nice, neat, little packages.
