I have to be honest and haven’t been following what the mayors have been saying in Texas. Did the Houston mayor tell the residents to stay put?
Yes, he said there was absolutely no reason to leave.
Yes, the Republican governor said they should probably evacuate. That he would if he lived there.
The Democrat Mayor and the Republican judge over emergency services told them to stay put.
He did but his reasoning was trying to evacuate would clog the roads.
It wasn't until Thursday that the storm rapidly increased in strength. I believe that if they tried to start an evacuation on Thursday, it would have been like the Roman chariots in the Red Sea from the movie The Ten Commandments. Cars would have been bumper-to-bumper on the freeways when the water came.

I just can’t believe Houston never came up with an evacuation plan since the 2005 debacle.. South Carolina had similar situation in 1999 with attempted evacuation of Charleston that was a disaster. But this last falls Hurricane, a plan was put in place and evacuation was nearly perfect....
A day or so before the hurricane arrived, I heard a report that the Houston mayor wasn’t ordering evacuation. Apparently he thought it needed to be coordinated or it would just make things worse. So why didn’t he coordinate one or at least order evacuation of nursing homes and the like? What are the chances the media will question a Democrat if they can somehow push the blame up to the Republican governor? I’m pretty sure they’re working on how to spin the facts to fit their narrative.
