The taxman is because we the people voted it upon ourselves...
School and road improvements historically were temporary in nature through out New England till the 1910 time frame...even the income tax in Massachusetts was temporary, then voted to be permanent not that long ago...if motivated, they can be voted away..
It's because the deadbeats and takers voted it and they outnumber the producers-- these are people who shouldn't be allowed to vote at all. This is why we had poll taxes, but now they are "racist". Everyone should just pay for their own stuff, to include children's education, at this point; too many financially irresponsible people, deadbeats and communists to make an equitable tax system work.
In my small New England town mostly older retired people live here.
They go to every town meeting in droves, and their message is very simple every time:
“No!”
The only thing the citizens did up there that was good was vote in Proposition 2 1/2 - which limited increases in property tax to no more than 2 1/2 percent a year.
When I got to CT, I was in for a rude awakening. My property taxes go up nearly 10% a year!
