As said these could be the fault of the ammo and not the gun.
The Glock brought on a whole new set of problems with its lack of a safety and its light trigger pull. As someone mentioned “Glock Leg”, a term created when Glocks were introduced to Police Depts. and there were numerous accidental discharges, sometimes resulting in leg injuries.
With revolvers and DA\SA pistols the trigger pull is hefty enough that you have to consciously pull the trigger.
Look at all the shootings(accidental) where a toddler shoots off a pistol or a pistol goes off in a purse or in a waistband or under a pillow (all real incidents) and you’ll find it involves a striker fired pistol.
I don’t even want to get started on the ridiculous new way of holding a pistol and......never mind.

Stainless steel is my gun material of choice because of the secondary containment aspect.
Think of it as Murphy repellant.
These fails can occur due to reloads and or improper ammo being used on any firearm.

There are no guarantees in life.
Malfunctions have and will continue periodically with any ammo whether factory or reload.
Wear eye and ear protection and handle firearms safely.
Two years ago I had a barrel blow completely off my 9mm AR-type carbine at the range due to my use of factory aluminum cased ammo, which I soon found out through actually reading the manual, (Duh!), that aluminum cased ammo was not approved for such a blow-back carbine.
My spouse was shooting next to me and asked:

Other than my shorts being somewhat stained, no injury occurred.
I had to ask for a a cease fire on the line and recovered my barrel that was now twenty feet in front of me on the ground.

Seems that a commonality is what is in the chamber and whomever put it there.
BTW, I am not pro or anti Glock. I do have a couple though.
IIRC, typical trigger pulls on a double action revolver are around 12 lbs. If the gun is being holstered and the cylinder is already entering, then it has added resistance since the cylinder needs to rotate before firing. There are still people who screw it up, but it takes a higher degree of carelessness.
I had a no-safety striker fired gun. Sold it to a guy who wanted one. Took about 5 lbs of trigger pull to fire.
I still have and carry my Beretta Pico. No safety, but I’d guess the trigger pull is near S&W levels. I also put my thumb against the hammer when holstering it.
It is certainly true that a competent person can use a Glock with a very high degree of safety. My Shield was a safe gun too. But I’ve used revolvers since a teen. Truth is, a double action J-frame trigger pull feels better to me than ANY striker fired gun. I doubt I’ll ever own another striker fired gun.
As for the thread...any gun can explode if you put ridiculous ammo in it. I’d trust a Glock or a Shield just as much as any revolver in that regard. People have blown up SuperBlackhawks by stupidity, but it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with the gun.

Except revolvers have 12 pound triggers and Glock only 5 pounds, which are more akin to single action triggers and not double action triggers like a revolver.
It’s real easy to pull a Glock trigger inadvertently.
Colt 1911s are famous for leaving a portion of the case unsupported, and yes there have been a number of kabooms related to this issue.
The biggest problem with Glocks is dumb, unqualified owners. Glocks are not unpredictable. Stupid people are unpredictable. Then they blame the tool for their behavior.
Many years ago, a friend was showing me his new revolver. Another guy came over and asked to see it. My friend handed it to him, and the guy pointed it at my friend and pulled the trigger. Yes, it was unloaded. And yes, the guy got upset when my friend punched him in the face.
In a world where self defense “experts” recommend a round in chamber with no safety the Glock is no better or worse that the variety of other weapons that fit the bill.
I have two frequently used carry weapons, on with a safety (which I use) and a Glock. I bought quality holsters for both that fully cover the trigger and feel quite safe with either.
For pocket or waste band carry without a holster, I would feel safe with neither.
