Mine would have beat my brains out. We sat upright, stayed in our seats, ate our food and talked in normal voices. Any deviance from this behavior got you the look, a second look meant your butt was going to pay either in the restroom or when you got home with a hand, belt or switch.

My parents routinely got compliments on our good behavior in public. My wife and I have received compliments as well on our children’s behavior in restaurants.

My buddy has 10 kids.

From 3 up to 21 now.

Went to a pizza/bar with them once, when they only had seven kids.

The kids were so good, our waitress brought other wait staff by, to see how well behaved they were.

This was the type of place that you throw peanut shells on the floor. And yet we could have fit in at any sit down place.

After we were done, the manager came by and mentioned that the kids were the best he’s ever had in the restaurant and bought ice cream sundaes for our entire group.

Having 1 or 2 kids well behaved can be attributed to a childs personality.
7 or 10... that’s good parenting.

My buddy’s wife would get up IMMEDIATELY and take the baby out.

I could sit amongst the kids in church...and barely notice them.
My buddy would notice the slightest thing (or so it seemed to me)
A slight lean forward. A slow turn of the head, and eye contact, was ALL it took to make a child change.

They trained their kidS from the youngest age, so that when they got older, seldom anything more was needed.

We commonly get compliments about our kids behavior as well. The fact is that they get to go out for dinner more often if they can show some manners while doing it.
