I have no “white guilt” over it, and the perpetrators are long dead, but Indians were the first slaves in the New World. It didn’t work out (they died or ran off), so blacks were brought in to do the work. In the English colonies, they also tried convict labor on plantations but switched to blacks because the white convicts dropped like flies from the heat.
Not to the leftards. Europeans "invaded" this land carrying diseases, therefore they are defacto murderers. The fact that they absolutely no idea what a virus was is irrelevant to the leftard; it is the Europeans very existence that disrupted the native's utopia.
But there is no doubt the Spaniards could be VERY cruel. Ruthless. And they basically did nothing really useful; just looking for get-rich quick schemes like finding gold.
This is why Spain never amounted to much.
And frankly, I suspect alot of it is the Moslem influence - genetic as well as cultural.

And, why do the Europeans who transported slaves to their colonies, and the Muslim slave traders get off scot-free?
I'm fortunate that my ancestor(s) were brought to North America, rather than Central America, South America, or the Caribbean. And all descendants of slaves in the Western Hemisphere should be eternally grateful that their ancestors weren't taken to the Middle East. The males were castrated, and the females were used as sex slaves.
