FBI Special Agents Robert Wright and John Vincent of the Agency’s Chicago Counter-Terrorism Field Office had been conducting a counterterrorism investigation of Saudi money laundering into and in the United States before September 11, 2001. Both of these Agents believed a massive terrorist attack was imminent, and they reported this to then FBI Director Robert Mueller.
Robert Mueller ignored their claims and later led an effort to remove them from the FBI, by attempting to remove their security clearances. Thus, many say this is the biggest intelligence failure in American history.
Why would Mueller ignore what these Agents tried so hard to bring to the forefront? And just what did these Agents observe that led them to report to Mueller?
Both of the Special Agents were working with a “Muslim,” who was a fellow agent. This Agent was working undercover, and the two Special Agents asked him to be wired to gather further evidence of the suspected terrorist operation.
