I’ve found the State Legislators Article V Caucus website to be an invaluable resource for keeping up with the latest goings-on in the Article V Convention of States movement. Anyone can join. Members receive a monthly email with links to timely articles on the progress of Article V across the states.
Features from the October issue:
• Phoenix Convention September 12th – 15th. Nineteen states sent delegates to develop parliamentary rules for a future Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) Article V COS. View the rules package here.
• Phoenix Convention Drew Considerable Media Attention. US News & World Report and the Idaho Statesman carried AP News Releases. Conservative Review, Arizona Republic, Townhall.com, SFGate.com, ABC News, The Hill, and other sources published various pieces.
• Phoenix Correspondence Commission (PCC). In a throwback to our colonial era Committees of Correspondence, the PCC is to “facilitate communication between the states, Congress, and the public on Article V and a proposed balanced budget amendment.”
• On September 30, the London-based Economist.com published an extensive piece on the entire Article V movement in the US.
• A Debt Ceiling With no Limit?
• Hillary Clinton Apparently Doesn’t Understand Article V.
• Congressional Dysfunction Spurs Interest in Term Limits – Even with one party controlling both Houses of Congress, it does not seem capable of accomplishing much. That dysfunction is increasing the interest in using Article V to enshrine Congressional term limits in the Constitution.
Members of the Article V State Legislator’s Caucus understand their place in the Framers’ federal design, in which state legislatures were not docile patsies, but active participants charged with securing the best interests of their people.
