Elizabeth Drew did some very good reporting back in the 1970’s. But that was many years ago and far away from the world of today. In this piece she is just another Hillary fossil.

I assume that nickname has nothing to do with Nixon’s character and everything to do with and the fact that Dick rhymes with “trick”.

Just as any politician named Roger would eventually be accused of being a dodger, and any politician named Brian would eventually be accused of lyin’, - people just can’t resist a good rhyme.

Nixon wasn’t especially tricky - if his name had been Russel, maybe he would have been called Trusty Rusty.
