Excellent article. We are Lutherans and the older I get the more I agree with Luther. We toured his house in Germany, and the castle he lived in while hiding from THE POPE who ordered him killed!

Pope Leo X did not issue any kind of order whatsoever for Martin Luther to be killed. Emperor Charles V issued the Edict of Worms that made Martin Luther a Wolf's Head. Cardinal Aleandro drew up a proposal that Luther's works be banned, to which Charles V added the declaration that Luther be apprehended and brought before him for judgement and reducing him to outlaw status.
